One important focus of our research is coding and transmission of digital video signals. On one hand we are dealing with improving the performance of modern video codecs using new prediction methods and optimized signal filtering. On the other hand we explore methods for standard independent quality improvement of the video signal at the receiver side by error concealment or using multipath receivers. Video encoding for specific source material such as medical data sets or in-car infotainment systems open interesting research opportunities.
